About

gitteGitte Pedersen DO graduated as an osteopath from the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in 1992, she had chosen this college as it was the only recognised course at the time that taught Cranial Osteopathy at undergraduate level. Cranial Osteopathy is a subtle refined form of osteopathy which broadens the realms of work that can be treated safely and effectively.

Having qualified from the ESO, Gitte was asked back to work as a clinic tutor in the teaching clinic, where she remained for the next four years. She also assisted Mr Peter Blagrave, Clinic Director at the time in his osteopathic technique classes within the college. This in conjunction with working in private practice and volunteering at the Osteopathic centre for Children in London, under the tutelage of Stuart Korth, gave a well rounded continued Education.

After a brief working holiday in New Zealand she returned to the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire area, where she worked as an associate in two practices and in 1997 took over as principal at her practice in Wallingford, South Oxfordshire. Gitte continued to work there running the multi-disciplinary practice until starting a family, at which time she sold the practice and consolidated her work closer to home in North Oxfordshire, principally Chipping Norton, but also working alongside two GP surgeries at Bloxham and Hook Norton.

Gitte continues to build on her skills and education by attending post graduate courses on a regular basis.

My Promise

No one can promise to fix your problem, this would be unethical. However, I have a very good success rate and there are some promises that I CAN make:

  • I will be honest with you. If I think that I can’t help you or that you will be better off with another practitioner or specialist I will tell you.
  • I will keep you informed. I’ll help you understand your problem, what may be causing it, what I can do about it and, more importantly, what you can do about it.
  • I will not sign you up to a long course of treatment, ask for payment in advance, or try to convince you that you need more treatment than you actually need. Some particular practitioners ask for big up-front payments. Be wary of this.
  • I will treat you as gently as possible. Some people want or need firm work to loosen up tight muscles and joints, I can do this. Some need careful and sensitive work, I can do that too. Basically I work the way you want mixed with what I think you need. I treat many older people and children as young as a few weeks old, they cannot have firm manipulation.
  • I always aim for good, quick results. Many of my patients only have two, three or four treatments initially. Many need some kind of ongoing help at different, infrequent intervals but there is a good reason for this, (see below)
  • I am as interested in preventing trouble in the future as I am in fixing problems now. It’s like going to the dentist regularly and needing occasional small fillings, or waiting for pain in your tooth and needing root canal work, which would you rather have? (I learned this lesson the hard way)

Thank you for visiting my website. I hope that it has answered any questions you may have had, but if not, or you wish to discuss your specific needs then please feel free to give me a call. I will do my best to address your concerns.
